Slovak league in the 60 m hurdles
Running for 60 m over obstacles, simply called the ,,sixties“ is a discipline that was included in the game of young firefighters ,,Plameň“ a few years ago. This was due to the growing interest of fire brigades and firefighting enthusiasts, who knew that the sixties are an opportunity to raise the base of firefighters in Slovakia . The sixties are an excellent preparation for the discipline of running 100 m over obstacles and the 4 x 100 m relay, which are part of the championships of professional and voluntary brigades in Slovakia and in the world. And in these disciplines in Slovakia we have stagnated in recent decades.
Sixties are for children of all ages. The product is intended for children under 8 years. The younger boys and girls categories include children from 8 to 11 years old. The older category includes boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 15. There is a track for children, where there are obstacles, a beam and a barrier at a height of 70 cm. For the category of older boys, the barrier is 150 cm high. Fulfilling the task of the sixties is simple and complex at the same time. According to the regulations to overcome the obstacles, connect the hose line consisting of two hoses C, connect it to the hose distributor and the connected nozzle to reach the destination in the shortest possible time.
The whole event around the sixties is centered around brigades that are dedicated to this discipline. They are also preparing competitions for young athletes. Some competitions have merged into leagues. The most famous are the Slovak League in the 60 m over obstacles (SL60) and the Central Slovak Fire League in the 60s (SSHL).
